2024 Season Hunters
2024 was a landmark year for Lonesome Dove Outfitters. Not only was it our 29th consecutive year of guiding hunters, but we took some exceptional trophies with an overall success rate of 77%. Tony Hinkle and Kyle Kerstetter both took brown bears in the spring large enough to make the B&C Awards category and Tony’s bear missed the all time book by ½ inch. Our family/guide moose hunt went very well early in September with us taking 4 bulls in 2 days including a very heavy 67” bull taken by Jacob Burton. We are pleased to announce that the State has reauthorized the Non-Resident moose hunt in our area so you can now apply for the 5 tags available. This hunt has been closed to Non-Residents for 8 years. Please contact me for application information if you would like to hunt a moose with us. The deadline for applying is December 16th. Mountain Goat hunting started out very well with our first 5 hunters taking 5 Billies in spite of the wet weather. James Barkhimer may have harvested the new P&Y world record which officially green scores 6/8” above the current world record. We should know the official standing early in December.
We still have openings for 2025 and 2026 including the moose opportunity. Our prices have increased as our costs have skyrocketed, $11/gal for AV gas for instance. We have an excellent team of guides and packers and we are not cutting any corners. Please contact me through email or my cell phone at 907-253-3718 for pricing and availability. With the results of the election, we are quite optimistic about the future of our great country and the hunting opportunities it will bring!
